STONEWEAR Column Covers are much lighter than similar products made with conventional cast stone. Made by a proven Magnalite process, tiny strands of long strand AR glass fiber are uniformly distributed in a mixture of cement and proprietary aggregate. Conventional cast stone products must have thicker walls surrounding steel rod reinforcement to gain sufficient strength for most applications. As a result, they weigh 5 to 10 times more than STONEWEAR products.
STONEWEAR retains all the superb aging and wear resistant properties of conventional cast stone while achieving significant increases in flexural, tensile, and impact strengths (about 20 times greater than conventional cast stone) -- the ideal formulation for Column Covers.
